Who I am at work:
Senior vice president leading our infrastructure and development practice. Identifying and bringing in opportunities to help clients develop and implement communication strategies that will bring them success. Expert and focused on integrated community relations, public affairs and media campaigns. Past and present work with amazing clients such as the American Geophysical Union, National Association of Clean Water Agencies and the District Department of Transportation. Proud Stratacomm leader since spring 2015. Everything good starts in the spring.
A look back:
Spent nearly five years with the DowntownDC Business Improvement District as their communications and marketing director. I know all the good spots. Just ask me.
Spent eight years with the District Department of Transportation as it evolved into a national leader in transportation innovation. Created and then lead a centralized communications department for the agency. Oversaw extensive and complex public and media outreach programs for multi-million dollar transportation projects including the lowering of the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge, the first design-build project with the 11th Street Bridge and numerous Great Streets and streetscape projects. These projects brought in economic development and revitalized neighborhoods. Many great memories, but one of my favorites is when I flew (twice) in the MPD helicopter to get a better view of traffic congestion which allowed us to significantly improve our communication plan for residents and commuters.
My educational background:
Bachelor’s degree in liberal arts and communications from American University in Washington, D.C. Communication, when proactive, transparent and inclusive can make a world of difference.
Who I am at play:
Wife, mother, daughter, aunt, counselor, friend. Ultimate Libra always trying to maintain the balance.
Words to live and work by:
We all have bad days. Give each other the benefit of the doubt. Be kind.
