John Fitzpatrick

Managing Partner

Strategic Leader / Crisis Communicator / Media Coach

Celebrating 22 years with Stratacomm in 2020, John co-manages the agency. He serves as trusted advisor to Fortune 500 companies, federal agencies, trade associations and non-profits. He specializes in strategic positioning and messaging, public affairs, crisis communications, media and presentation coaching and editorial services.

John is fueled by the mission to create an ever-evolving, collaborative and inclusive culture where talented, creative people are motivated and resourced to deliver their very best each day, so they can help the agency’s clients win. (And win they do.)

Before joining Stratacomm, John led communications for the Association of American Railroads. He previously served in the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Railroad Administration, where he led the office of public affairs and earned the agency’s top award to a sole employee annually for excellence in public service.

John earned a graduate degree in public communications from the American University in Washington, D.C. His undergraduate degree in political science is from Wheeling Jesuit University in West Virginia.

When not working, John enjoys time with his family, reading and getting outdoors. A near perfect day for John finds him on his road bike with nowhere to go…and all day to get there.

Bill Buff

Managing Partner

Campaign Manager / Research Lover / Government Contracting Guru

A skilled public affairs communicator and co-manager of the agency, Bill serves clients by crafting the right messages and campaigns through the careful combination of research, strategic planning, media relations, grassroots activation, coalition building, digital outreach, high-profile events and personal contacts. In addition to his communications expertise, Bill knows the ins-and-outs of the complex system of government procurement and contracts administration.

Before joining Stratacomm in 2001, Bill was a client at the American Highway Users Alliance (AHUA). He oversaw media strategy, public opinion research and external communications as the director of communications and government affairs. He brings two decades of experience with transportation, environmental and energy issues to help clients achieve legislative, regulatory and reputational goals.

Bill graduated from Davidson College in North Carolina and studied anthropology.

Outside of work, Bill enjoys spending time with is wife and young son. You’ll often find him at Nationals Park cheering on his beloved baseball team or rooting for the Carolina Panthers and Duke basketball in the off season. A lover of both the mountains and beach, Bill admires the Spanish culture and its wine.

Executive Positioner / Product Communicator / Podcast Junkie

Leading the agency’s day-to-day operations in Michigan, Kristin passionately focuses on supporting the team in developing smart integrated communication strategies that deliver measurable results. She also serves as the partner lead for Stratacomm’s multi-year work with Nissan North America. Kristin represents the agency across metro Detroit as a member of the Detroit Economic Club’s Reception Committee and graduated from the Detroit Regional Chamber’s Leadership Detroit program in 2019.

With the firm since 2003, Kristin brings robust agency experience servicing B2B and B2C clients. Her experience spans a broad spectrum of disciplines including organizational planning, C-suite executive visibility and thought leadership, media and analyst relations, consumer product launches and sustaining communications, and crisis and risk communications and preparation.

Kristin graduated from the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor (#GoBlue).

Outside of work, you’ll find Kristin running, tap dancing or obsessing over the latest Peloton bootcamp. She's a proud Kappa Kappa Gamma, Cub Scout mom and always planning the next #TyllTeam3 adventure with her husband and son.

Travis Austin

Senior Partner

Strategic Thought-Partner / Creative Technologist / Data Junkie

Travis Austin is a senior vice president at Stratacomm, a marketing communications agency that helps brands raise awareness, shape behavior and influence public opinion. He specializes in consumer facing campaigns and currently oversees several large integrated media programs for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

A technology nerd at heart, Travis enjoys client collaborations that leverage digital tools and technologies that deliver efficiency, build insight and improve performance. Technical enough to work closely with software engineers and verbal enough to connect with executive leaders, Travis aims to bridge the gap between business vision and execution to create unique, engaging and impactful client marketing programs.

Travis is a summa cum laude graduate of Drew University in New Jersey where he studied political science.

Outside of work, Travis can be frequently be found on the Peloton, playing tabletop games with his wife or cleaning up after their cadre of rescue pets.

Sharon Hegarty

SVP, Senior Partner

Writer / B2B Communicator / Internal Marketer

A senior vice president and senior partner, Sharon provides communication strategy for government and corporate clients and oversees internal marketing for the agency. She has a special interest and expertise in creative development, message development, crisis counseling, internal communications and grassroots outreach.

Sharon is the resident agency editor and loves all forms of writing. She is adept at synthesizing complex information, whittling down a 60-page document for an executive summary, writing original long-form copy, or spicing up taglines or social media posts. She is also well versed at managing communications around product recalls, drafting communications for audiences ranging from customers to internal stakeholders to government officials.

Before joining the agency, Sharon gained communications experience with nonprofits, associations, corporations and two multi-national public relations agencies. Her experience has spanned every touch point within the communications life cycle.

A recent empty-nester, Sharon spends most of her free time practicing yoga, cooking, walking her spoiled Boston Terrier, traveling or just hanging out with her husband. She is a proud graduate of the University of Michigan–Ann Arbor.

Charlotte Seigler

SVP, Partner

Public Affairs Professional / Event Planner / Government Communications Specialist

A senior vice president and partner working out of Tallahassee, Florida, after nearly 20 years in D.C., Charlotte specializes in energy and transportation issues and complex event production. She manages integrated communications programs for federal agencies, including the Department of Energy, Department of Transportation and award-winning Solar Decathlon competition. She takes a special interest in public affairs, internal communication and event production.

Before joining the agency, Charlotte cut her teeth in the meetings and trade show industry, working for seven years with Freeman Companies. While there, she worked in corporate marketing and industry relations, planned and produced conventions, exhibit programs and special events of all sizes, and learned to drive a forklift.

Charlotte graduated from Davidson College in North Carolina. In 2017, she was honored to receive the Alumni Service Award.

Outside of work, you’ll find her wrangling two kids and a pandemic puppy, and trying to find her way back to her formerly athletic self.
