The Award List Keeps Growing: Stratacomm Announced as WTS-DC Employer of the Year

Stratacomm was announced as Employer of the Year at the Women’s Transportation Seminar Washington, D.C. Chapter’s (WTS-DC) annual holiday party and award ceremony. The award is given to one employer each year who is a leader in transportation, supports women employees and students in the industry, and has advanced the reputation and credibility of women in transportation.

Stratacomm was selected for the award based on our excellence in the following four areas:

Elevating Women in Senior and Executive Positions
More than half of Stratacomm’s leadership team are women equity partners with an average tenure of 16 years. In addition to our leadership team, women lead most of our transportation client accounts, including Nissan North America, the Aluminum Association’s Transportation Group, Norfolk Southern, the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) and multiple U.S. Department of Transportation agencies.

Promoting the Development of Women
Stratacomm takes pride in providing exceptional growth opportunities for employees. Through formal Stratacomm University sessions, informal campfires, TedTalk discussions and podcast reviews (most recently HBR’s Women at Work series!), Stratacomm consistently finds ways to offer learning throughout the year. The firm also made a significant investment recently to support Kristin Calandro Tyll and Karyn Le Blanc as they pursue formal leadership training programs.

Encouraging Female Students to Enter the Transportation Field
Through our internship program, we strive to provide real-life professional experience supporting mobility-focused clients, from planning and executing logistics for an upcoming community meeting, to playing an active role on a client team charged with developing a national campaign to promote highway traffic safety. As a true testament to the success of the program, four women interns converted to full-time Stratacomm employees in the past three years, working on leading transportation client accounts.

Supporting WTS-DC
For the past five years and counting, Stratacomm has been an active supporter of WTS-DC. Jennifer Heilman serves as WTS-DC’s communications committee chair and previously served as secretary on the executive board. Karyn Le Blanc has helped plan and facilitate two WTS-DC Executive Women Roundtable events in the past year, showcasing the incredible work being done by women in transportation throughout the region. We believe in the WTS-DC mission and are a 2018-2019 corporate member.

The firm is excited to add the WTS-DC Employer of the Year award to our shelf, alongside our Metro Detroit’s Best and Brightest Companies to Work For® and PR News Top Places to Work awards earned earlier this year.
