As kids across the country head back to school, Stratacomm’s D.C. team experienced its own “first day” on August 27 as we transitioned into our new office location at 1200 G Street, NW. While the pressure to pull together the perfect first-day outfit escaped us (mostly…), we shared the normal change-induced jitters with middle schoolers everywhere.
Thanks to our incredible administrative team, our move went seamlessly over the weekend, never missing a beat, serving our clients without disruption. We were up and ready to go at our new spot bright and early on a Monday morning. We all headed into our new office with a slightly different commute, excitedly unpacked and hung familiar photos to settle into the space.
Our office move was bittersweet, as we all loved our previous space, but there were a few motivating factors that made this move enticing:
Location, Location, Location – With the White House just down the street, our new office is in the heart of Metro Center, and in a thriving central location for our clients located in our nation’s capital and the greater D.C.-area. Stratacomm employees live in D.C., Maryland and Virginia, so the access we get to all six Metro lines between the Metro Center and Gallery Place stations was icing on the cake.
Employee Experience – We certainly weren’t hurting for lunch spots or a good option for a drink at our previous office, but now we can’t throw a rock without hitting at least 10 great restaurants and food trucks lined up right outside the front lobby for a quick lunch, a nice dinner or even a happy hour to celebrate a strong work week. And, yes, it’s a good thing there’s a free gym right downstairs. We’re excited to explore neighborhoods with even more great things to do like Chinatown, Penn Quarter and Shaw, all just minutes from Metro Center. You will probably catch us at a few more basketball games than usual, or cheering on our returning Stanley Cup champs, thanks to our new neighbor – Capital One Arena. Can’t say we’re upset about that!
Use of Space – For the first time in almost 20 years we can make our office space uniquely ours. We contributed to the design of the whole space and we’ve already put our personal touch on it. Our growing creative team now has open workspaces for easier collaboration, and we’ve added plenty of places for small group huddles and big team-wide and client meetings – with easy-to-use technology to wirelessly cast desktops to oversized flat screens placed throughout the meeting and community spaces.
Our D.C. office location may have changed, but a few things will remain the same for Stratacomm: what we do, what we believe and what we value. We’ll continue to work together across both our D.C. and Detroit offices to provide great client service, learn a lot and have some fun along the way. As we close one chapter and begin another, we’ll always carry these things with us. It’s a nice feeling for us to walk into an office that we’ve put our creative stamp on, and we’re excited to welcome friends of the firm to our new space.
Don’t forget to update your address book and drop us a line – and stop in, we love visitors! Look for open house details later this fall.
