Stratacomm Adds Former-DDOT Communications Director Karyn G. Le Blanc as a Senior Vice President to Lead Infrastructure Practice

WASHINGTON, D.C., May 27, 2015 – Stratacomm LLC announced today hiring Karyn G. Le Blanc as a senior vice president in its Washington, D.C. office. Starting June 1, she will lead the firm’s infrastructure practice group, which helps clients communicate with the public and other stakeholders on all aspects of transportation and development-related projects.

“For two decades, Stratacomm has used the power of communications and outreach to help our clients build consensus behind and communicate the progress of their large-scale infrastructure projects. The firm is growing and adding new talent and Karyn brings more than 20 years of relevant communications experience to our already highly regarded infrastructure practice,” said Bill Buff, Stratacomm’s co-managing partner. “She is a dynamic leader with a record of success working with transportation departments and the business community in fast-paced environments where teamwork, credibility, accountability and results are core values.”

The District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia departments of transportation all have trusted Stratatcomm to lead successful communication and outreach campaigns on some of their largest, high-profile and politically sensitive projects. These engagements include the Woodrow Wilson Bridge Project, Anacostia Waterfront Initiative, 11th Street Bridge Project, Intercounty Connector and New York Avenue Rehabilitation Project.

Previously, Karyn was the communications director for the District Department of Transportation (DDOT). There, she positioned DDOT as a national leader among state departments of transportation in both public outreach and government social media strategies. During her 8 years with the agency, she also held public affairs specialist and communications specialist positions.

Most recently, Karyn was the communications director at the Downtown Business Improvement District (DBID) where she developed strategies to support its mission, goals, and full spectrum of initiatives. Under her leadership, the DBID retooled and rebranded (“DowntownDC”) its marketing strategies to target and reach new audiences. Karyn championed the integration of social media, a new Drupal-based interactive website, in-house design, branding and video into DowntownDC initiatives. She also oversaw development and implementation of a comprehensive database for the DBID using a Salesforce platform.

Karyn earned a bachelor of arts degree with a specialization in communications from American University. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including the 56th Presidential Inauguration Award and the Mayor’s special recognition for outstanding service during D.C.’s major 2010 snow events (Snowmaggedon). Active in the community, Karyn serves on D.C.’s Cherry Blossom Festival Board of Directors and lives in the District with her husband and their four children.
